Intervals
Intervals are the space/distance between two notes. Go through the following presentation to learn more about them.

Ear Training
Another important aspect about intervals is to be able to recognize them by ear. When determining/memorizing the intervals, it might be helpful to think of them in relationship to a song you are familiar with. For example, the first interval jump in "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" is a Perfect 5th.
