The Fundamentals of Music Theory
Below you will find a brief description of each of the sections we will be covering. Music theory continuously builds on previous materials. It is important to cover each section in order and fully master the material before moving onto the next.
The Basics - This section will review the basics of reading notes on the staff, including treble and bass clef.
Key Signatures - Basic information about naming major key signatures.
Major Scales - After mastering key signatures, this section will examine how scales are put together and the function of each note in the scale.
Intervals - Here we will examine the distance between notes and how to determine the quality of intervals. This will lead into understanding how chords are constructed.
Chords - This section focuses on basic chord construction (triads) and how to determine a chord's quality.
